I have decided I want to take the plunge and move to Moraira with my 2 spaniels. I am coming alone. My parents live in Murcia but I did not feel that was the right place for me to live.

I am hoping that there are people that I can socialise with perhaps go to gym with?

I am most worried about my dogs as I currently live in the New Forest and they get 2 hour long walks (off lead) a day....

I am going to rent somewhere March next year for a month or two to get a feel for things. I will then rent long term and probably buy once I sell my UK house. I am still getting my head around how the residency will work.... I work for myself and will continue to travel back to see clients once or twice a year but most of my work is based at home.

If you are at present a UK resident with a UK passport you will need to look at the possibility of getting a visa from the Spanish consulate in the UK before making any solid plans.

Here is a link to visas related to Spain:

https://visaguide.world/europe/spain-visa/

If you gain the visa required to suit your needs you will be able to move over to Spain and apply for residency. You will need to meet the income and healthcare requirements.

Make sure to get your dogs vaccinated against Leishmaniasis, keep them dosed up against fleas and ticks and read up on Processionary Caterpillars.

https://www.healthplanspain.com/blog/expat-tips/1027-pine-processionary-caterpillars-spain.html

On hot days your dogs may not want to do anything but sleep inside in the cooler air but if you fancy taking them to a beach, here is a list;

Everybody is supposed to clear up after their dog, even carrying water to clean up after number ones and twos but you will probably soon find this is widely ignored, unfortunately..

There appears to be a dog park in Moraira but I'm not from the area. https://www.facebook.com/Parquecaninomoraira/

Yes, the amount of DS everywhere is a disgrace. Inconsiderate owners should be identified and punished.

Dog owners are always in denial about such matters!! I pointed out this very same fact on the thread entitled "Dogs on Buses" last week and according to dog owners,  they can do no wrong!!

To be honest I came on here to see if it would be a nice place to relocate to. Not to get all the negativity about dogs and their owners.

I am extremely clean and I always clean up after my dogs.

If you go back to the original thread it says I want to meet people.. This is not a great first experience. Perhaps find a different thread to air your dog complaints? and let those that want to welcome new people or help come on my thread

Thank you yes I have found out as I have high income I can have the non lucrative visa and pay tax in Spain. This is the route I will take once I take the final decision :)

Hi Mandy,

Unfortunately it is an issue here in Spain and even I, as an owner of two dogs, find it really annoying. A lot of people live in apartments so have to take their dogs out to do their business and many simply don't clean it up. None of the comments were aimed at you personally so really sorry if you felt that way but people let their dogs mess on community pathways, town centres, promenades and beaches so just take it as a warning to watch where you are walking.

In the meantime, although this is an old thread there are plenty of tips for meeting people. Some of the posters may still be up for meeting new friends so it may be worth dropping them a pm.

Edit: Sometimes it's good to know the kind of things that cause issues here and I'll add electricity prices to the list!

I've found another link that you may be interested in.

Yes sadly we have it here too in New Forest. Everyone seems to think they dont have to pick up as horses and cows live in the forest. Something we get everywhere and I agree drives me mad. Especially when the Grandchildren step in it.

seems to be a problem worldwide
