So if the income is ok , I would need to find a primary school , find a flat and start filling in the forms . This I suspect will be a lengthy process but to live with 300 days of sunshine a day ! It has to be worth it ! Would there be an account type person that would set this all up easily ?&nb...

Hello Lara,

Dont be guided by anyone who cannot provide an accurate link to the facts & figures. This is  up to date with all details of financial & healthcare requirements + all documents   to see if you meet the criteria required  for  all 3rd Country Nationals.......Its a lot to read but worthwhile

One of our helpful members Marcliff on our Talk Quesada website has written a guide to residency in Spain on the following link:

Gosh, I don’t know Lara but if you check the forum you will find numerous pieces of information about becoming a Spanish resident. I presume you plan to rent your present home in the U.K. so in order to use your income as part of the required figure, surely you will need to move out and have tenants in place and be able to show the income on your bank statements. That May all take some time so may not work unless you could move into another accommodation while sorting out your residency. Actually, if you already have a place in Spain, perhaps you could stay there while looking for employment etc.,

There will be lots of hoops to jump through but a good solicitor should Mark your card for you.

Good luck.

I already have the place rented . I should have done this last year but covid got in the way and I have stayed to help my parents . So my h has happened that I now think this situation could go on for a long time , how about quality of life ?

Thanks for the guide, it’s a lot of hoops but anything worth doing is never easy . Let me have a read and get back to more questions .

ThAnkyou so much

First thing is get your NIE number,  you need this for bank account and buying a house , when you buy in spain add another 13% for tax's on top of purchase price , sell house in england and trickle money into Spanish account,  then buy place , what about long term rental?

Hi I have just read your thread and can you tell me what are the rules for renting in Spain after January 21 is the income still needed to be achieved or is it left because you are renting can you rent for 6-months without being a resident thanks Tom

As a tourist you can rent for as long as you like. But you can only visit for 90 days then you have to leave for 90 before you return.

(The 90 days in a rolling 180 rule)

So nothing to stop you taking out a years rental except you can't stay in the property for the whole year.

If you want to stay longer than 90 days you can apply to become a Spanish resident.

A non resident may rent but only for a period of 90 days and after a further 90 days, you can return for another 90 days.   If you have an Irish passport, I believe you could stay longer as the Rep of Ireland is still part it the E.U.  Otherwise. As we are out of the Union we are now required to follow the 90 day rule.

Hi Ann.

My friends rent a lovely 3 bed, 2 bath semi, next to the pool, for €350 per month, including IBI ( rates), community charge, basura (waste collection) and property insurance..they pay water, approx €100 annually, and electricity approx €70 every two months on average plus contents insurance...

...,  and that is it! This is in Almoradi, a lovely town 20 mins from Torrevieja and Guardamarwith a bus station and fantastic market, lots of entertainment in the square( normally!)

You really have a good opportunity to explore other areas without commitment .

Hi Sue I have just read your said I am thinking of renting can you recommend an estate agent in them areas with the website I can look at thank you Tom

So rental is viable for 90 days , after that issues of residency start becoming problem . Are there websites to find a te tak for the summer , walking distance to Olivia beach , two bedrooms , an actual bath not just a shower . Parking ?
