Am I being ripped off?

I've been to a fair few Farmacias looking for generic Ibuprofen. Every one I've tried is asking 5 euros, give or take a few cents, for a pack of 20 400mg. This seems an extremely high price, as I used to pay 2-3 euros for 600mgx40 packs a few years back during holiday visits to the CdS.

Can anyone advise on where I can get them at a more reasonable price?

edit: This also seems to apply to Paracetemol

H Gerry,

When I moved here almost 5 years ago, I was surprised to find that I couldn't get these painkillers in supermarkets and that they cost a lot more in Spain than the 40p I used to pay in Sainsbury's.  I've also discovered that I was always being sold branded products, which are much dearer, so when I'm offered those now, I ask for "aspirina genérica", "paracetamol genérico", or "ibuprofeno genérico" instead.  I still find them more expensive than the UK, but much cheaper than the branded products which the farmacias always offer me first ;o)

Kind regards,

Kim

I do Kim, I learned about asking for generic brands years ago. Unfortunately, it appears the cost, even of generic, has increased exponentially over the last couple of years, which is why I'm thinking it might be a local problem. Basic medication shouldn't be as expensive as it appears to be in Oliva
