I am currently driving through Spain looking for a full time property to buy. I will be applying for a non lucrative visa. My question is, I take medication after a heart attack 11 years ago, I recovered well. I have been to the local Pharmacist at the place I think I will be buying a home in, and have been quoted nearly €120 a month for the medication I need. Is there a health scheme that I would be entitled to that would bring the cost down.

If you are a UK retiree and receive UK retirement pension you can claim your healthcare through the S1 healthcare scheme which is paid for by the UK government. Prescription costs would be free or up to 10% depending on income.

If you have to have private healthcare I think you will find it very difficult to obtain under your circumstances.

S1 or not for the NLV you will be required to show full private health care paid up for 12 months.

It's said that the UK consulates are issuing visas on the strength of an S1 however the fact remains that at a TIE application proof of private cover is still required.

I've asked this question several times in several places but yet to receive a reply:

Has anyone been granted a TIE solely on the strength of an S1 and without private cover?

Finally anyone able to meet the financial requirements for an NLV is unlikely to qualify for free prescriptions!
