We have been absent from Spain since June 2020, however we applied for healthcare under national system in February 2020. We completed all the documents in Gandia Health and Social Security office. We have not yet received any documents and we are finding it impossible to make an appointment there. Has anyone had similar experience please. Jimsan.

Hi jimsan, I'm quite confused!
In December 2019 you stated that you had your SIP cards, were these just temporary ones?
You also say you got your Residency in Feb 2020 but left Spain in June 2020 and haven't been back since ( or maybe have arrived recently) so where are you actually a resident and where have you been making your tax returns, Spain or the UK?
When we got our Residency we went to the INSS in Torrevieja and were given a completed form which we had to take to our local Centro de Salud along with our passports and EHICs and were given the SIP cards on the spot.
I don't know for certain but as you have not actually been residing here has your Residencia been rescinded?
Hopefully someone else can give a more definitive answer as I may have got the wrong end of the stick.

Hi jimsan,

I'm confused by your post too!  If you've been out of Spain since June 2020, then you haven't complied with the temporary residency requirement to be in Spain for at least 183 days per year for the first 5 years.  Unless I'm missing something too?

Kind regards,

Kim

Hello I thank the people for their replies about Health care here in Spain. I was not aware of the requirement to stay in Spain for the minimum period, during first 5 years and I know a number of people who also were not aware of that. We are here in Spain now and will be for the future.

We had to return to UK as my wife's sister was dying and she was hospitalised for a considerable period. We arranged flights twice but they were cancelled by our carrier and later the UK was determined not to grant its citizens travel except in certain circumstances.

We are trying hard to get the situation sorted.

HI Jim, Some questions.

What paperwork did you fill out?

Are you pensioners?

Are you residents?

Are you on the padron?

If I were you I would get a gestoria to sort this out for you.

Good luck.

Hello. janiceroquero,

I thank you for your reply, it is most helpful. I did complete the documents to register my S1 as specified by NHS in UK. I am a pensioner and I have registered on Padron also we hold green residents cards. I will follow your advice and appoint a gestor to sort out our situation. You are most kind.

...d.

Jim, Even though I have lived in Spain for many years there are certain processes that I always get a gestor to do for me. Many Spaniards do the same.

Good luck, Janice
