Hi

Your right about overthinking it all. I definitely did. I think you just get on with it once you make the decision. My wish list included shops, community, authentic, flat, municipal pool. I finally just committed to my property as I loved it but can feel your pain lol.  I also got fed up looking and jumped in. I don't regret it and have had great support but if I did it again I think I would rent first because that's the only way you can truly get to know an area but that said it's not yours so you dont have the same connection. All the areas offer you similar options and if you drive have access to them all. Hope that helps a little

Hi Sue, glad we’re not alone.....and yes you’re right, we’ll have a car most times I suspect so nothing will be too far away....but faced with a beautiful house in a tiny village with limited amenities you can forget this and only think of how lovely the house is and then remember you’d not be able to walk to an open air pool......(but you could drive easily!) there are worse problems to have I’m sure and yes ideally renting would be great but we’d quite like to get this completed  (especially with Brexit looming) in case it gets more complicated after.....but thank you v much for the advice/empathy! Hi I agree with Brexit its unsettling. Most villages have their own municipal pools so are walkable. But I'm sure you will know when it all falls into place. Goodluck with it all S

As access to a municipal pool seems to be important to you be aware that although many villages have fantastic open air pools they are only open for the limited summer season (which is basically the school holidays) - our fantastic open air pool opens in June and closes in early September which can be really frustrating when it is still super hot.  That said some villages have covered pools that are open all year round so check where the nearest all year round pool is too,

For anyone thinking of moving to Spain it may help if they had a look at the Citizens Advice Bureau Spain site, along with Jim's Guides on this site, as answers may be found for many of the queries that you will have.   Just bear in mind that after 31st October many things will probably change.   Also, for anything to do with driving in Spain have a look at the N332 site.   It is run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil for English speaking people and has and English version of the Spanish equivalent of the Highway Code.
