Personally I would discount the old town. As well as access problems, there are shall we say some lawless elements in that neck of the woods.
I like the beach area and as Relyat said, you also have Piles, Miramar etc. further along the coast. There',s also the Oliva Nova area south of the town, but it's very quiet in winter. Or as a wild card, consider somewhere 15 minutes inland like Pego or my village just outside Pego, called Adsubia. Its a great place, super new communal pool and bar as well as three other bars with food.

Hi, I bought a house in March this year, in the low part of Sant Vincente. Where, and what is the “lawlessness”, this would have certainly put me off buying in Oliva, if I had seen your advice initially! So far I have found the locals very friendly and accommodating, maybe I have missed something?
