I am (hoping) to exchange my NIE green residencia card for the new TIE. On the forum it says i need to complete an EX23, but the appointment confirmation has come through saying to complete an EX17. They look the same to me, which one should I be completing?

Assuming that you are British with Spanish residencia:
Ex23 is for British residents nto change their residencia to TIE
EX17 is for general applications for TIE
Maybe tyou didn't choose the right appointment: POLICIA-EXP.TARJETA ASOCIADA AL ACUERDO DE RETIRADA CIUDADANOS BRITANICOS Y SUS FAMILIARES (BREXIT)

Hi Wendy,
Just to avoid any confusion, your green residencia card isnt your NIE, it´s your "Certificado de Registro", which happens to have your NIE printed on it. (The NIE is your unique tax reference number - the document is a white, A4 piece of paper and it doesn´t need to be replaced.) If you´re a UK citizen and simply want to exchange your green residencia card for a TIE, then you need to complete EX-23. If you feel confident to do this yourself, see my step-by-step guide:

Thank you. Yes I understand about the green card and nie, its just whenever I'm doing anything administrative they always ask for nie when they want to see residency card. I have now applied to change our residency green cards to tie and pick them up in November. So all is good, thanks for all replies, very helpful as always
