Thanks for info on length of stay , we’re there for four months starting July and have arranged long term insurance ✅
First you need an his from the police station. You need proof of address passport and tax paid application. Then you can get a pardon from the town hall. Copy's of his passport proof of address required. These are live for three months. Residency is a different kettle of fish.
You need a bank account in Spain with €6000 per person in the account for six months or English S1 with pension statement of projected payments and six months proof that the pensions have been paid into a Spanish bank plus marriage certificate if married or separate applications. So the process can only legally start when you have had all this in place for six months. Just been through this and I suggest when doing this get a specialist not a solicitor as they know exactly what's needed and have a fixed fee. Hope this helps.
A lot of this information is not correct unfortunately! so best to get advise from an expert as the criteria varies from police station to police station!

If you're staying for more than three months, but not taking up permanent residence, then you should apply for temporary residencia, the requirements for which aren't as stringent as applying for permanent residencia.
From a purely practical point of view, it's unlikely anyone would find out or do anything about it if you didn't apply for temporary residence.

Thank you 🙏 appreciating your comments!
We have been told no more than 90 days in any 180 days following Brexit if there's no deal. If there is a deal the present 183 days in one year will still apply for the transfer period, until 2020 but not sure of date that year.
