I am considering buying a property in the Orba area to live permanently. I am on holiday in Calpe and wanted to visit to have a look around. We visited an estate agent in Denia on Tuesday for a chat. I do not drive and my partner is a little wary of hiring a car during this holiday, although we realise she would need to drive if we lived here. We were considering coming up via taxi but we are a little concerned about the availability of taxis to return to Calpe. Is there taxis available from Orba and if so what is the best number?

I think it may be unlikely. Having briefly looked up the obvious, taxis en Orba, there does not appear to be a service based there. There are some in other villages, and there is of course the radiotaxi option, who cover large areas, but none of whom seem to be Orba based. I suspect it may also be expensive. To be honest, in rural areas, life or transport without your own means of transport is well nigh Impossible.

I am afraid your best option is for your partner to hire a car. Driving here is not as bad as you may think and will be much more convenient. But one small word of advice, it can be difficult actually driving into Orba as such, unless you are very familiar with it, due to many one way streets and no entry roads. It’s much more simple to park on the edges, dependent from where you are coming, and walk into the town, it’s usually no more than a five minute walk. I speak from experience!!!

I agree with Stephanie. There is a British guy, legal taxi, in Pedreguer near to Orba. Here is his number

0034635442911 Colin

You would need to pre book and give him a definite time and collection address. If you do, please mention Steve in Beniarbeig, it doesn't get me a discount but it's good for him to know who's recommending him.

Orba has a fairly large number of British residents by the way but public transport is extremely limited.

As you enter Orba there's free parking on the right, a little further on there's lots of parking behind the supermarket Mas y Mas, I'd suggest buy something and put the receipt on your dashboard although they probably never check who's there.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for the information and the taxi number. We may leave the visit to the spring when we intend to come back out and look at some options inland.

Thanks

Allan
