Hello, I thought I would reach out to readers of this forum. I have been scouring animal shelters for a small to medium younger non-to low shedding dog. Although there are so many gorgeous animals looking for homes, 99 percent of the ones I have seen would appear to be the type that shed and due to my allergy - I couldn’t give them the love they deserve. If anyone happens to know or hears of a younger dog, without severe behavioural issues, that is needing a great home please let me know. I’m in the Orihuela Costa/Villamartin área and have a car. We might need to wait till after the lockdown.. I’m not sure. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Val,

Have you looked at the Spanish Water Dog?  Probably a little bigger than a Cockerpoo and smaller than a Labradoodle, but with the same no-moult coat.

When we first got our rescue mutt, we took him to training classes where we met a beautiful, brown one, called Polly.  Her owner got her from a rescue centre in Malaga.  They're highly intelligent dogs - our trainer had to put her up a class, as she was so well behaved and learned everything at the first attempt.

Here's some information about them.  I think some of these pictures make them look bigger than they are, because of their dense coats -Polly's mum kept her trimmed much shorter.

Interestingly, they have webbed feet, like water birds, although you have to separate the fur on their feet to see it.  I suppose the clue's in their name 😄

Maybe worth a look - as they're a Spanish dog, it may be easier to find one.

Good luck!

Kind regards

Kim

Well done to you for looking at a rescue dog and hope you find a friend for life.

Yorkies don’t shed hair.  My rescue dog is half Yorkshire Terrier, other half unknown.  He doesn’t shed.

Hi I've just seen your post so apologies if you've now found your forever friend, but if you havent yet look at IARA dog rescue based in Cartagena so not that far. Weve just adopted a dog but cant get her until after the lockdown. She looks like she is a cross breed havenese which dont shed either. Good luck with your search.
