In a small household of 2 people with average water usage - showers, washing machine, etc what would the approximate water charges be and are they paid monthly, quarterly etc. Also is there just one main billing company for the area or is it like the electricity companies with some charging more than others? I assume that it is all on a meter.

Our property isn't small, but only two of us in it.

Bills average out at €85 a quarter, and usage averages out at 20 cubic metres. These bills include €13.25 for rubbish collection.

We're on mains drainage. If we had a septic tank then bills would be less.

We have a small swimming pool, so summer bills are higher than others.

Only one supplier for each area.

Consumption is metered. If you don't know where your meter is, then find it. You might need to turn off the supply at the meter if you ever have a leak.

Many thanks, I'm trying to gather as much info as possible about running costs.

No point buying if we can't afford to run it as well as our UK home on our pensions!
