for the Valencian Tourism Licence.

I’ve heard that the ruling to display a plaque or sign outside the house has been removed, as it is seen as identifying potential unoccupied properties, which would be easy targets for thieves. However, a sign must be displayed inside the property

Hi Ray

I have recently gained my licence, which a local property management company obtained for me - took 6 months in total! I asked them where I could obtain the plaque/sign to be displayed outside, and was told “ once you have the number you can start to advertise on all the major sites you just need to have the licence displayed in the property and you do not need a plaque outside anymore as it has been agreed that this may cause theirs to target the property.

Whether this is an amendment to the initial criteria I don’t know - but I don’t see why the pm company would tell me this anyway?

You still need the plague but can display it inside near the front door.  Try the hardware shop in La Florida (near the Abbey) as they make signs.  They probably already have the template so just need your number.

You also need a sign to say you have the mandatory complaints book/forms available. (You can easily print the sign but must buy the pack of forms).

Does anyone have a simple guide to the process for this?

Is it registration (i.e. you just have to follow the process to get the licence) or does someone give you permission (i.e. they can say "no"!)?

Thanks

Ted

Search our posts on the forum for Tourist License and you will find the information you need.  It is both, and they can say no!  If the Town Hall wont issue your Certificate of Compatibility (a few are currently not issuing any at the moment) then you can't apply for your license as you need that first.  The property needs to meet specific minimum criteria.  Applications are taking 6+ months to process at present.  Then you would need to ask for an appointment to register with the Guardia Civil to get your login for registering your guests.

Do not be tempted to rent out short-term without the license, the fines are huge.  And don't forget to do your tax return either!

Does anyone know of an official government website that says where you should display the plaque please?

Also, where can you purchase the complaints book please?

Thanks Dave, but that file would never open for anyone else - it's on your computer.
