We are looking for health/pet insurance for our mix breed staffy. Can anyone advise me on any insurers that they have used or are using or any recommendations? We're currently paying a high premium for our uk insurance and it only covers the dog for 90 days. We're in spain on a permanent basis at the moment.

We have 2 cocker spaniels 4 yrs old. It’s actually cheaper to pay vet bill than insurance. Vets a lot cheaper out here.

Hi we only recently moved over from the Uk and registered with the vet as soon as we arrived.  Have you spoke with a vet yet?  He reregistered the Id chip to the spanish system for us, I think for €25 and advised that, like previous member said, it’s cheaper with vet bills than it is to pay insurance.

Your best to speak with a vet though for total peace of mind.   Good luck

Hi, you need public liability insurance for your dog as Staffs and/or cross breeds are classed as Dangerous Dogs here and need a licence.  If you're unaware of the regulation I strongly suggest you have a look at all the information available online.  This link gives a little information which may help you. http://www.abacoadvisers.com/spain-explained/life-in-spain/news/your-dog-spains-dangerous-dogs-list        I have my insurance through Liberty Seguros and it's about 100€ for the year.   Hope that helps.

Think it's the bloody owners should be muzzled sometimes not the poor dog, Ours is a great big softy, shakes at the slightest noise, hates fireworks, gunshots, planes going over. Think it's a shame they're all tarred with the same brush. I'm not saying he wouldn't bite ( he never has yet tho he's been bitten) but what dog owner can guarantee that of their dog? Rant over, thanks for your comment !

Yes we are aware of the laws regarding him as a dangerous breed. Don't agree with it at all as it's only what the dogs have been taught by thuggish owners! Any dog is capable of being viscous if treated the wrong way. Appreciate your reply, having a think and looking into things.
