Hi all

I have only been here 6 months and am staggered at the price of electricity.

It is criminal what they charge. More frightening is an article I read in today's paper saying they are raising the price again. Does no one in Spain complain. It's as if they can do exactly what they want.

You are in Spain and one of the only things that is very expensive is the electric! the sun is free! so is the quality of life!

Enjoy

If you are with Iberdrolla they have a habit of connecting any new Customers to their most expensive Tariff but not tell you of this - it's only when you challenge them over costs that they offer to change your tariff - my monthly bills have almost halved since I changed to a cheap evening tariff - or move supplier to Fenie Energia - they welcome new customers with a full range of cheaper tariffs!

We have the cheaper night tariff plus solar hot water and our bills are around 70€ a month

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

We went to iberswitch and they robbed us blind. We paid far more with them and they charged us  for the privilege. They didn’t pay our bill at one point and we came back to find we had been cut off.At the time I was having cancer treatment and it caused me so much stress. In the end we let them with them owing us over 200 euros as we ended up paying the bills ourselves.

I really don't understand all the complaints about electricity prices. We pay 9% more than a friend in the UK, which I don't regard as a lot more, especially since we use less electricity here.

I've yet to see anyone complaining about how ridiculously cheap our council tax is compared to the UK.

Theres nothing for you to understand. If you don't agree. Up to you but your opinion isn't the same as ours. If we want to complain about anything it's up to us. I and others personally think it's very expensive. I've notice you comment on everything and take sides with Spain because you've probably been here a long time. Since I've come here I've met so many smug expats who love to put us newbys in our place because you all know so much more. Well this Newby is not interested.

In that case I certainly won't even dream of helping you if you ask questions in the future.
