Railway travel
My wife & I decided we’d like to see Alicante’s Xmas lights. For many years now, we have used Renfe service, driving to the station at San Isidro/Catral, but since Covid have refrained.
Today, we arrived at the station around 4.pm to catch the 4.27 train. Before leaving home, I had taken the trouble to translate the expected instructions on the “Autoventa”. (I was aware that there are no personnel, there!) The “Autoventa” did not tie up with my instructions, looked about 25 years old, and I was told by another passenger “was broken”!. This person believed that it may be possible to buy tickets on the train, but wasn’t really sure. I have since enquired from a local Travel Agent who said a similar thing, but added “it really shouldn’t happen!
Any advice from correspondent’s on here who may have had similar problems, would be gratefully received, particularly if they can offer a solution! One last thing: I am reliably informed that Cercanías tickets cannot be booked in advance?)
