Moving to Spain with our 7 year old !

Does anyone have advice.
We are looking to move to an area where there are young families around .
How do kids generally pick up their friendships ?
Is it different to the uk .where we live in a village and the kids that live in the village go to the nearby school.
Looking at quesada area at moment with the willow international school .
