Hi Everyone,

Yes - our house was broken into.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

The thieves peeled back the bars of a side window, climbed in, rummaged through our drawers, tore the small safe off the wall and escaped taking the money and documents with it.

It happened the day we had the Coronavirus lock down.

The police responded to a neighbour's call - but the thieves had long-gone.

Our insurance company fixed the window and changed the locks - but I have to submit a claim.

We are just waiting for the all-clear so we can fly to Spain and get our house back to normal. Thankfully, the neighbours photos show only superficial damage to the wall where the safe was.

Again, any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Robert G

Hello Rayd,

Thank you for your advice.

Unfortuneately, we, and our neighbour, are not aware of the  'denuncia penales'; there was a language problem and the police departed.

After the neighbour had emailed us of the break-in I telephoned the Rojales police station and the helpful police woman said I should make a report in Almoradi police station

so this something we need to educate ourselves with prior to our visit to Spain.

Kind regards, RobertG.
