Hi I need to change my bank details for paying my Suma. Originally the direct debit was set up by my solicitor and I would now like to affect this change myself. Can anyone advise please.

There's a CSV code which is the secure code verification printed on your SUMA bill.

Not heard of a CVA code, though.

A word of warning.  If you gave your solicitor POA make sure you cancel it. You could end up paying twice or getting a denuncia if you have closed your bank account and they can't get to your money.

Hello

We are in the same position but have not received a suma bill yet. We cancelled our bank account so subsequently the direct debit could not be taken out. We also need to pay non resident tax but as we have had no suma bill we do not know the cadastral value? We are due in Spain 14 November and were hoping to sort out then. I would like to set up a direct debit but do not know the csv code due to receiving no bill?

Also we have received notice from our solicitors that the non resident tax has been calculated as 75.88 euros per person and they want 100 euros plus vat to do this.(270 euros in total not including suma). It sounds steep all round to me and I'd like to know how they've calculated the tax?

Any advice is most welcome

Regards

By SUMA bill I assume you mean the IBI? Bills get sent from now to be paid by end of October normally although they have been delayed the last couple of years to mid November.

Are you listed as the recipient of the bill or do you have a solicitor who handled it for you? If the latter, then the solicitor you used would have the catastral value or if you, then it should be on your last bill. You will also need the CSV code.

I would, of course, suggest you go to the SUMA office but that's no good as you aren't out until November after the deadline. I believe you can't pay online if you go over the date.

But don't lose too much sleep over it. Fines are very low in the region of 5 to 15 euro or so and you can go and pay it when you next visit. If only a month after it's due it'll be a few euros only.

You can also change the details of the direct debit then provided you have an account with a EU IBAN such as Wise as you don't have a bank account in Spain.

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

It will be our first bill for both non residential tax and for ibi,so we don't have anything to go on. I don't know if we are listed as the recipient? We used sun lawyers for our house purchase and they set up the direct debit with sabadell who we have now binned. I don't really wish to continue with sun lawyers either due to costs as previously stated. We can't pick up our mail when/if the bill arrives as we are in England. Do you think sun lawyers will be forthcoming with the details?ie catastral value and csv code. It seems as though this is all that's stopping me from doing it online now?

Again thanks for your time.

SUMA is only the agency that collects the IBI and annual car tax payments in this area for your local town hall.   The IBI payments are due to be paid by some time in October and the car tax payments are due to be paid by some time in June (usually early in both months).
