Do you live in salinas spain as we are thinking to buy there. If so is it a nice place to live and are there English speaking people

Hi Steve , we moved to Salinas in October last year , it is a lovely small town mainly Spanish but many Brits dotted about . Everyone is very friendly and there are ample facilities ( although some closed at the moment due to covid) . We’re also in our 60s and we’ve got to know quite a few people already Brits and Spanish .  If your looking for a quiet  friendly place you can’t go wrong . If you need anything else let me know

Thanks Joanne very helpful. Would there be a problem with doctors as we don't speak Spanish, we live on urb at moment so no problems. I have seen a property in salinas White single storey with underbuild, small park area across. We would be concerned about making new friends not had chance to visit yet as covid.

Again thank you steve

Hi Steve , there is a doctors surgery here although it’s mainly Spanish but they try hard to be helpful ,the Pharmacist speaks very good English and also there’s a local language teacher who will always help with things and will even go with you to the Doctors. It’s not perfect but we’ve managed fine and I’m sure you’ll make friends easily once things return to normal ,we’d be more than happy to meet up with you if you do decide to move here .

Most proffessional people have an understanding of English but learning Spanish ,even the basics ,will benefit you more than anything else. There is a "Help" office in Torrevieja, next to the "Gun shop"Ferriteria Brazil, where we obtained a " Visit to the doctors " pamphlet, invaluable, english and Spanish medical phrases side by side covering men and womens ailments and problems ,we used it everywhere when undertaking medical visits and it is a great ice breaker, with a sense of humour and a smattering of basic Spanish you have no need to employ expensive interpreters and make many friends.

20 years ,have done all my own admin, driving licence,S1,Residencia,SIP ,Spanish wills( diy costs €50 at a Notary) ,buying and selling five houses ,been through Cancer treatment at Elda and Valencia, not all plain sailing but through it all we had a good laugh and made many good friends.

Our first house had yellow stickers everywhere with spanish names of everything,a teach yourself spanish tape on loudspeaker and a reluctance to converse in english when out and about, pronunciations initially caused a lot of mirth locally but everyone remembered us and hand shaking and stopping in the street to chat made going out enjoyable.Best thing we ever did!
