Hi folks

I've decided to rent an apartment in Santa Pola.. I must pay the 1st month rental fee plus agency fee inorder to reserve the property.  Then when I return in early March I pay a months rental in advance.  Is that the general way of things?

When did you organise the rental? We intend to rent in Santa Pola in August but are unsure how long the process takes.

Can we just turn up and secure a long term rental within a week or so?

Thanks for any advice,

Chris

Hi Chris

I flew to torrevieja for a few days to view an apartment but sadly it was gone by the time I arrived.  I stayed for another fortnight to give me more time to look for something.  I must admit 'it hasn't been a walk in the park.'  I've sent 100 or more enquiries to thinkspain and kyeo but got very little feed back.

One thing that might have helped was by saying I was staying in the area.  The other thing that may have swung it was telling them I could pay the deposit and a month's rental in advance that day.  Cash is also a big incentive.  For the spanish owned properties I gave them my details in spanish using google translator is handy.

It's a good idea to broaden your search!..

keep me posted

Happy homesearch!..

Lorraine

Thanks for that - it will be very helpful. We plan to stay in the area for a few weeks too.

Will keep you posted
