Hi there.

We bought a one bed apartment in central Torrevieja 3 years ago.We use it for hols and I myself use it more frequently as I’m retired. We have mainly Spanish in the apartment block and there’s never a noise issue. There’s several corner shops within 3 mins, chemist is beside us and there’...

...s several supermarkets within 5 mins. The bars are mainly Spanish and they all know us and are very welcoming. Torrevieja central is a fantastic location, we are 7 mins walk from the new marina and 12 mins from a swimming area. Theses a bus stop around the corner, happy days!

I admit a lot of footpaths need upgrading especially on the side streets, and some buildings don’t look great. But where would we get our very own escape in the sun for €52K including expenses, certainly not anywhere in Ireland. Long may it last. ✈️🌴☀️👙🍸

Hi,  thanks for your message.  That’s exactly what we are looking for, a 1 bedroom, similar price to come and go to for a while as unfortunately I have many years left before I retire 🤦‍♀️ we get so fed up of the rain here!

Hi there.

I bought my home in Torrevieja last February and I love it. I've a few friends whom also own homes in that area. We do get mosquitos but I'm part of a complex so luckily the area is sprayed regularly.

I've seen the other areas you mentioned but I find them quite secluded from things to do compairedvto Torrevieja

Hope this helps

Jane

Do you mean San Luis?  Do you live in the city centre?

Hi we are also irish we are I our sixties and are living in spain permanently 5 months now, we bought a bungalow in la siesta and are very happy here, san Luis,  and el chaparral are all next to la siesta, torrevieja is a lovely place, and yes there is graffiti in places as everywhere in the...

... world, but it is by no means all over the place, nor is it offensive, of what I have seen, also our area has an excellent bus route,  every 40 minutes approximately, and is a circle route to torrevieja, for 2 euros you can buy a travel card, which can be topped up on bus by 10 or 20 euros, it gives reduced fare of 60 cent,  as against 1.55 euro per trip, wish you the best of luck on your search, you won't regret it.

Pat

Thank you.

Hi Bolesim,

I have a holiday home in Jardin del Mar, Torrevieja (near the Sprinter shop) and I love it there. People are friendly and there are lots of Irish around. The Carrefour and Haberneras Shopping Center are within 400m and lots of other shops, bars, restaurants close by. We have a communal pool. There is a 50m indoor pool, a running track, soccer pitches and indoor sports halls in the Sports Centre only a mile away. We often walk to the sea front and it's nice to walk the promenade. Lots of cycle lanes out our way too and buses that bring you around Torrevieja. When buying you need to ask yourself do you want a house or an apartment? Do you want to own a car and if so where will you park it? Or if you have bikes where will you keep them? The graffiti is unsightly but it's a small price to pay for the lovely weather and lifestyle you can have.

Best of luck with you move.

Thanks for your message.  It wouldn’t bother me about the nationality once they are respectful.  I suppose there’s good and bad eggs everywhere!

Exactly. Avoiding doing something purely because of people's race isn't very nice. As long as people are kind and respectful then I don't see what race has to do with anything.

Little example below of what you can get by me. It's not the hustle and bustle of Torrevieja Town centre but if you want that, it's a 8 min bus ride away.

No I gladly dont live in the city centre. I did mean Torrevieja as I wrote. No other towns or I'd have written that.

I'm sure there's not many people bothered about moving to another country and want to be surrounded by BRITISH people.

The usual 'I've heard' again. Well I live in Torrevieja and I can tell you there's more Spanish than anyone and second to that it's Belgians.  Yes of course we are having a few families from the Ukraine moving over, but so is everywhere that's affordable due to the current situation....

...

Torrevieja and the areas around it Inc Orihuela Costa is a beautiful place and very affordable. Overall it had fantastic bus links to many different places.

Personally I wouldn't go near the Mar Menor, it stinks! The water isn't great and the transport links are awful. Each to their own I suppose.  But asking someone to hold off looking because you have heard a certain nationality is around is a bit silly.

*rant over*

Why  ??   be so rude

Try Los Frutales area, it is very nice, you have everything on your doorstep....the sea, supermarkets, restaurants, regular bus service to Torrevieja centre and La mata(both walkable) peaceful even in the summer and all year community....many different nationalities but mostly Spanish.

I'm not going to knock Torrivieja but it's just not for us. No matter where you are you will want or need your own car so then this really widens up where you may wish to consider. As previously stated the further inland the more you get for your money. We are in a village called Daya Vieja,  just 7 KLM from a number of beaches, all have good and free parking, the village has all amenities , public swimming pool in the summer and we have a community pool also

inc bakery, shop, doctor , pharmacy along with a wine bar and 3 other bars and places to eat, larger supermarkets are just a few minutes by car away. All nationalities here including Irish

I've a home in Torrevieja and I can get everywhere at a short distance on bus or walk. Loads of people I know are also there. I recon people whom dont live in that area are not the correct people to judge. I'd not judge other towns, as until people live there they dont fully know the area.

Gladly we all like different and have our own choices if likes and dislikes. None of my friends there have a car either and can pay €1.55 by bus to get everywhere.
