Hi folks

looking recommendations for banks in torrevieja the Santander costs €10 a month to maintain which is scandalous. Anyone recommend a good bank in torrevieja preferably with low monthly costs to maintain

Hi Conker77

Unfortunately, for non residents, you will find that most banks charge. I guess the question might be “what am I getting for my money”

I bank with Sabadell, who charge €35 quarterly. Acknowledging that may seem expensive, it offers fantastic online banking and English speaking staff. This is important to me as my Spanish is not, and possibly never will be, adequate for banking needs

I know quite a few members use online banking. Transferwise and Starling are two names that regularly come up 🤪🥂

That’s great thanks for the info currently with Santander and they’re about as much use as a chocolate fire guard

I'm with Banc Sabadell. 35 euros a quarter. I think most  banks charge in Spain, but they have an excellent English-speaking service and website. I find the service is excellent.

BTW, make sure the bank you choose has lots of branches/ATM's. You don't pay for w/drawals with Sabadell from their own ATM's, not sure about other banks, but likely the same.

Hi, I highly recommend Cajamar Bank, their online account called "weferrent" is a free account for non residents(and obviously residents). You have to open in branch as a non resident because non res Nie, s not recognised on their system but residents can open online. Google their website, in English, and app available in english too. I changed from expensive Sabadell 18mnths ago and already saved over €200 in fees. Just wish I,d done it 10yrs ago.

Regards

Pauline
