We have been with Sabadell for around four years, great service, they pride themselves on the slogan " we speak your language" which means that in any Branch or on the phone we have always had access to English speaking staff, great website in English with a Virtual Office you can register to use which means you can complete your banking transaction and manage your account from back in the U.K. Also easy to set up transfers from the U.K. when needed.

I would suggest you register on your Water and Electric companies websites to use their Virtual Offices to do the same with their accounts, set up Direct Debits and go paperless so you do not miss bills.

Your going to find everyone that answers is likely to tell you their bank, which is great.. but! It all depends what type of account you have.. no one tells you about the charges these banks require for you to bank with them.. no free banking in Spain..  check this out no matter where you bank..

We are with Bankinter.. no problems, on line and transfares.

Congratulations with your move.

Quite right on no free banking for Non Residents, all Banks charge around 35€ a quarter. When Resident you change your Account and get free banking as long as you credit around 700€ a month into the account. Before we had our U.K. pensions paid into the account we simply lifted 700€ from an ATM and went into the Branch to lodge the money, no problem and we now have free Banking.

If you don't need a Spanish IBAN then maybe look into TransferWise or similar, as they can offer many services free, which might do the job for you
