Hi

Just go into any bank near you in Spain with your passport and NIE number  and ask to open an account. Depending on the bank there may be different accounts to choose from. They may ask for other forms of ID such as utility bill but not always.

Most Spanish banks will have some English and other languages spoken. Sabadell is a good bank with a good clear understandable online banking system which is very helpful when you are back in your home country but there are lots of good banks so check them out first by going in and talking to them. Ask for a list of charges as all banks on Spain have fees for using the accounts and some accounts and banks have higher charges than others.

We would give a high recommendation to Sabadell Bank, they have lots of branches and cash machines. You would need your passport and NIE Number but other than that it is straightforward. Once opened it is easy to set up direct debits to pay utilities like water and electricity. They also have a great website that you can translate into English and register to use their Virtual Office which is great to monitor and make transactions on your account while back in the U,K.

I am moving to Costa Blanca this week, I messaged Banco Sabadell on Facebook and asked about opening an account. If you know the closest branch 4 digit . They made an appointment with me in the branch with an English speaking member of staff .

It helped that I had job offer letter etc
