First I must admit I am one of the elderly not too savvy internet brood but always willing to learn.

I visit my property for short breaks during the year and thought I had found an ideal solution to a problem with Scansat switich on/off service.  Ideally I could order it on line from home and pay by credit card so that it would be connected when I arrive.  I do not hire a car so rely on my feet.  In practice this has rarely worked.  All the lights are connected on the router OK but they do not connect it and I have to telephone the office not ideal if I arrive on a Sunday.

Yesterday I arrived having paid by credit card for February two weeks ago and it had gone through my credit card instantly.  I could not pay for March at same time so had emailed them.  No reply.

I telephoned them but the person I spoke to was not in the office and argued I had not paid and in fact not paid since June.  Not true I had not even been in Spain.  I had been in December for a week and paid by credit card which again showed on credit card.  He said I must go into the office and prove it.  No mean feat already tired I had to walk some distance to their office where I was told in future I must always go into the office to pay and they were changing their system so they would switch on for Feb but I must go back on 29 Feb to switch on for March.  Not the convenient system I had signed up for.  Also they will be charging per day not per month from March.  That is good as often I pay two months for two weeks straddling two months but they could not tell me how much they would charge.  What a system and company.  They said they would switch it on then and I walked back only to find it had not been switched on.  Another hone call and at last connected.

Although I had to pay a high set up fee a year ago I am willing to cut my losses to get a system that works.  I was wondering if anyone in a similar position to myself had a similar system with another company that works and does not involve a long walk on arrival.

Good morning,

What a palaver for you.

You could try giving DvdLab a call to see what they can do for you as they provide an excellent service aswell as the type of service you are looking for. Lars is very friendly and approachable.

I  would  also  recommend  DVBLAB,  It an English  company,  I  am not  Tech  savy either  but find  getting  switched  on  by online  method  reasonable  simple,  Installer  an English  man so no  communication  issues,  installation  takes  about 90 minutes  depending  on location  of  receiver,

Give them a call and give your present provider  the  boot

I've been with DVB Lab for over 16 years. No problems. Used the on/off service for the first 4 years and, on the odd occasion there's a hiccup, they fix it very quickly.

Another vote for DVBLab. 5 years great on/off service and never an issue.
