Hi. Currently living on Mallorca but hoping to move to Torrevieja area later in the year. We currently get our TV (UK) channels via Fibre Optic and a Satellite Dish. Our dish is 1.7 in size, would this work ok there, or could we even use a smaller dish? Any info greatly appreciated

If you're talking Sky then 1.4m is the minimum but can be a bit marginal.

1.9m (1.8m actual dish size) is pretty reliable - it's what I have - and I imagine 1.7m would come close to it so my advice would be to bring it with you if you can.

We have Freesat with a 1.4 metre dish, all English channels with the exception of Sky, excellent reception and I get to go to the pub to watch the football.

HI Cristine

people that are saying marginal are nearly right but obviously not Sat Installers basic rule of thumb is you are saying Torrevieja that is a broad brush stroke Torrevieja is fine on a 1.4 famaval High Gain Dish but any bead weather you will lose channels as they do in the uk. North of Torrevieja the signal is stronger south of Torrevieja you start to weaken the signal strength.

We have been helping people with there TV requirements here for 16 years plus we help this site by advertising on the right hand column if you take a look.

You can also think about IPTV if you had that in Majorca we can help, all our advice is FREE.

Regards

Pete

Yes a 1.4 will get you a excellent  reception  in Torrevieja only lose channel  5 when we have  torrential  rain that is for Freedsat no Sky.
