It is also a forum that requires you to be friendly & polite- you are not!

In my part of the world it’s called straight talking.and honest if you are upset by those type of comments you shouldn’t get involved.in the first place and expect people to sit back while someone hides behind a keypad abusing someone else’s country.with their political views.

Engalnd is actually disadvantaged as it is under the UK Government and unlike the DAs of Scotland, NI and Wales does not have a chamber which only deals with England specific matters (never mind regional issues/ variations). I think the English people therefore are not properly represented - what...

... does the NE for example have in common with the SE in terms of demography, economy, weather etc.

Personally I think we could do with less political layers rather than more.

No problem you are of course entitled to your opinion.

It is quite clear that all of us on this forum, particularly those of us living in the U.K. and Ireland are all suffering from cabin fever. Life that we knew us no longer the same. Prior to this new variant people were going ahead and making plans to travel but now we find ourselves in a dark and list world. Those of you in Spain are particularly fortunate that your area which is populated mostly by expats is very low in covid infection. Many areas in the Alicante region are dangerously high but your area is pretty safe. While you can and before infection attacks your area, go out for your morning coffee, go out for lunch, treat yourselves to pleasant experiences and put happy experiences into your lives. We CANNOT do this.  You all talk about the lockdown you endured last year, well, we are now experiencing the same thing only our weather is grim and we can’t sit outside reading in the warm sunshine or very much else.  I’m speaking for the older generation who are hardly leaving their houses. We have been blessed with a beautiful baby granddaughter born in London on Wednesday and we cannot fly over to see her and have no idea when we will be in a position to go.

Look, people come on the forum and post something and before we know where we are, we are reading more history about how badly the U.K. government have dealt with this virus. Stop and think how well we are being cared for. The reason for lockdowns is because hospitals can’t cope with enormous intakes. It requires experienced doctors and nurses to nurse people back to health and sick people are sometimes in hospital fir a long time. We are now being vaccinated by vaccinations crested in our own country. We are guaranteed to be vaccinated and very soon too. Unfortunately, people in Spain will not get theirs as quickly as we will, just look at the figures. Our doctors have new drugs which are saving lives daily. In my view our government have done a lot better than some are suggesting.

To those of you in Spain , look out your window and see a bright blue sky. Put your shoes on and go out for a good walk and stop off for a cafe con leche. Be happy. You are all literally living in a bubble. Keep your bubble safe snd you will come out of it safe and well.

😉

With so many TV channels and other media available to us, its easy to watch news story after news story most of which are always about something that has either gone wrong or other problems or issues which may well serve to exacerbate peoples worries and concerns,

Having seen how a number of the threads on here always seem to escalate into a tit for tat on divisive issues that people are never going to agree on despite in most cases the original poster asking a question that simply wants a factual answer or some information is disappointing. Depressingly, I think the lockdowns have meant frustrations are occasionally vented here as a consequence.

Different governments have taken varied approaches to managing the situation - did they do that with the intention of managing and minimising the impact of the virus. Of course they did - the fact that outcomes have varied can hopefully be used as a means to learn from for the future. I'm not going to beat either the UK or Spanish or any other government for that matter on a forum as they took what action they thought was appropriate at the time based on the advice they received.
