Hi,

your granddaughter does not need to have had covid vaccinations to visit you in Spain, she has to take a covid test before travel and it (of course) has to be negative.

I traveled to Alicante in July. I just had two jabs so needed to do an antigen test with DAM health, booked and paid for it online cost 22pound and went for test the day before flying. Total waste of time and money as didn’t need to show negative test result at any point of my travels.

And if you had have been randomly selected and didn't have the required documentation?

Unvaccinated travellers can enter Spain now by taking a simple antigen test which costs very little and can be done at home, so there's no reason why your granddaughter shouldn't visit you.

A very interesting question, what would actually happen I wonder ? Not what the authorities say would happen, what would happen in reality. I suppose unless someone has experienced such a situation we won’t ever know ?

I’m just saying that it appears to be a money making thing for businesses to cash in on. I had to travel 20 miles to have the test done when I had the same testing kit at home!

Hi Les,

When you booked your flight, did you have to provide evidence to the airline that you were either fully vaccinated, or that you had booked a test?  This information used to be provided via the Passenger Locator Form, but since that's been discontinued, I wonder what you have to provide at check-in now - a vaccination certificate, a Covid recovery certificate, or a negative test result?  If the airlines at departure are checking this information, I can understand why the arrival airports would only do a random check (or none at all!), but it seems odd that any airline would let a passenger on a flight without this proof given that, if they're denied entry at their destination, it's the airline's responsibility to return them 🤔

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Rustyruss67,

It isn't a big thing for those who are fully vaccinated - something the Spanish authorities know before you arrive in Spain, because you can't get on a plane or ferry in the UK without first proving your vaccination status.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kim,

Just curious, how do the Spanish government know?

Hi

Provided no evidence, booked as per usual. From Cardiff to Alicante nobody asked for any evidence of vacs or negative testing.

Hi LouLou59,

Originally, everyone had to complete the Spanish Health Form online, within 48 hours of travelling to Spain.  Now, travellers only have to complete the health form if they don't have a Covid Digital Certificate (EU or UK equivalent), showing that they're fully vaccinated.  As it's all done online, the Spanish authorities know a passenger's Covid status before they board their plane at the departure airport.

Kind regards,

Kim
