Hi all , I am thinking of bringing my car over to Spain and getting it registered in Spain  , I would like your opinions as to what you think about doing this , ie  the cost and the right hand drive ( what problems this causes ) , thanks all .

RHD cars in Spain are a bit of a pain - car park barriers, toll booths etc. More care and attention is needed on junctions. And it isn't cheap to re-register a UK car in Spain .... usually 1200-2000 Euros (ITV, taxes, headlights, possibly rear lights, gestor fees).

But used cars are significantly more expensive in Spain than in the UK.

So I suggest you work out what your car might sell for in Britain and how much you would need to pay to replace it with a Spanish one (eg. Autoscout.es), and compare the numbers with the import cost.

My wife and I imported 2 cars - an old sports car (that I didn't want to leave behind) and a LHD Honda that we bought in Britain that that beat the numbers test.

Completely agree with Pete.

I brought a car over and I needed a starter motor. As rear as rocking horse poo unless I paid over the odds. Buy a car in Spain and remember it doesn't stand a chance in car parks so don't go for something too fancy. Good luck.

My equivalent car in Spain was 4000eu more expensive second hand, lights were switchable and didn't need replacing, as for being RHD it doesn't bother me in the slightest and parts can be shipped from the UK in 24hrs

I brought my Renault Megane Cabriolet over and changed to Spanish plates. The company that helped were professional and met me at the ITV station.

12000 well worth it and no problem with junctions or anything else. I am glad I did as cars are more expensive here and I know what work I have had done to my car.
