I may be interested in a private used car having iTv for sale local to me, If I do decide to buy this car, what other extra cost would I be expected to pay and is transferring of ownership easy or difficult. This area of buying a used car in Spain I know nothing about. Thank you for your help.

You have to pay the sales tax and transfer fees, I couldn't guess at the costs, it depends on the age, value and CC of the car. Along with the usual Insurance, there will be no Suma due because that is the responsibility of whoever owns the car on January 1st.

The transfer is very simple and painless if you use a Gestoria, they will sort out all the paperwork, no need for an appointment. Just pop in with the seller, hand over your ID along with the sellers ID, they will tell you the costs, pay it and away you go. It's a much simpler process than having to go to traffico etc yourself, even the majority of Spanish use a Gestoria when transferring ownership.

Hi Dazz and thank you for your reply, I have been looking at various websites and found

www.getlegalinspain.com

State Vehicle Transfers, change of ownership Spanish car has a cost and depends on the vehicles age and C.C, for cars more than 10 years old and less than 1.9cc engine cost 200 Euro, If more than 2.0cc engine cost 250 Euro. Cars less than 10 years old the transfer tax varies. Thank you again for your help, stay safe and healthy my friend.
