Hi, help needed, please. I'm going back to the UK for a week and need to hire a  car. I haven't hired in the UK for a long time. The websites are a minefield, to me. Any advice recommendations on who to use. I'm mindful of hidden costs and being ripped off. So any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm landing at Heathrow..

Thank regards

Christine

Hi Christine,

I always used the comparison site Autoeurope when I hired cars from London airports

https://www.autoeurope.co.uk

I never had issues with the companies they suggested.  They give star ratings of the hire companies, pick 4 or 5 rated and use one at the airport rather than a shuttle if possible. (just easier to pick-up/drop-off)

Iif the full insurance cover is not much more than the standard insurance then I would take that, just to avoid any issues.

Rgds,

Make sure you take a recent utility bill to prove your address.

Personally I'd hire from anywhere other than an airport and book an UBER to get me there.

Hi Darro,

out of interest, why do you not book at the airports?
