Suma 2020 Car Tax.

Recently contacted Suma re payment of Car Tax for 2020. Last year paid by Bank Card.
The charming lady on the telephone explained the money would be taken from my Bank Account 07/06/2020 via Direct Debit ! Total shock on my part as I have not set up or authorised such a DD from the account. Stunned silence from the lady. Just where does that leave innocent folk if they can just set up DD as a matter of course ?
Anyone else suffered such an occurrence from their Bank Accounts ?
