Just thinking....would we be able to come to Spain in March/April this year and stay until October-ish, before everything changes on 31 December?? Thinking we could rent initially and get a feel for whether or not we want to go for it with the residency or not.

Thank you

Sharon

Didn’t know that, I know quite a few people  that live in Murcia and have never applied for residency, they said it’s too much messing around and lots of paperwso I presumed it was ok/legal. That’s why I asked, thinking we could do it before the December 31st cut off. I won’t consider that option now, wouldn’t want to risk anything and certainly wouldn’t want to break any laws. Back to the drawing board, Thanks again for the advice

Ray, most of the illegal immigrants with their couldnt care less attitude are not bothered by the scanning of passports as they dont intend on leaving the country anyway so feel Brexit wont change anything. I know I,ve met some and they are not going to change their status, Brexit or not. Even my neighbour illegally driving a UK vehicle registered to his UK daughters address and still driving on his UK licence over 15years can't be persuaded to change his habit. However he takes the vehicle back to UK twice a year, once for Mot(July) and once at Xmas for visiting family and luckily as both are 6months apart he feels thats not going to change. However he will presumably have his passport marked on comings and goings in the future so he has planned for his daughter to visit, take car back for Mot and return it then fly home. There are no lengths these people will go to to stay illegal. He has brazenly argued with the police he is a non resident and got away with it. These people have it all planned out and work round the rules to stay illegal.

Regards

Pauline.

Not intending to speak for Jim, but I make that 88 days, 2 below the 90 day threshold required for a Residency application.

I work full time in the uk, and own an apartment in Benidorm, do I have to wait until I retire apply for residence or could I do it now, I am very confused as to the best thing to do , may be it would be better if I retired this year and started the process now. Any advice please.

The same question was asked yesterday. You can only apply for residence if you are living here.

Bear in mind that if you're not in receipt of the UK state retirement pension, then you'd either have to be working here and paying into social security, or you'd need to pay for private health insurance.

Thankyou , do you buy health insurance in Spain or , if in BUPA in the UK will that count I Am  not state pension age but do not need to work, I would travel back to uk for planned medical but would need insurance for emergency. What would be the best company to use and what company is the best to use to apply for residence. Thankyou. I would also be grateful for any other information you could give me , thanky
