You say " hoping to move in the near future"  so could be this year or next year maybe . Currently things here change on a regular basis , the Brexit  withdrawal agreement & the pandemic  mean many  people will move here & other people will leave depending on their circumstances. Your age & hobbies could dictate what you find that would suit you.  

I think you need to wait until you are  ready to move to be up to date on what groups/organisations are available. I moved here alone 17yrs ago & have had periods of loneliness  but I am still here & life is good.

There are quite a few local social groups you could join although I am not sure how many of them are holding actual events at the moment including : 

On Facebook : Ladies of Spain Villamartin events.  Members of the Spain wide Ladies of Spain group also normally holds many events ( look under events tab).

I have a holiday home and hope to be over at least 4 times a year and it would be nice to get to know people around me and build a good group of friends, as next year I hope to retire even though I am young. Friendships and meeting up to gain knowledge of the area is very important
