Hi Folks

I am a 40 something divorced male UK expat living just outside torrevieja for the past 2 years now. Am self employed and now established here I am finding i have more time to seek like minded people for friendship and socialising perhaps?

I am looking to join relevant clubs now but still looking in my area. I am actively trying to learn spanish on my own but its predictably slow and the few spanish friends I have can't teach me because they have work or families to care for. Maybe we could learn together time permitting or simply just shoot the breeze so to speak over coffee and people watching in a cool cafe somewhere?

You will find I am an easy going chap and generally accommodating with a positive outlook and attitude to this wonderful life we share here.

If I sound like the type of person you generally socialise with post up here or if you know of any clubs in torrevieja let me know. Am thinking of checking out phoenixsolo club in the Marian maybe? I am a big foodie too but there seem to be no food appreciation clubs? Could be wrong

Thanks for reading, let the adventure begin.

Hasty Luego

:)

Hi

Just a message to say I liked your comments about positive outlook and attitude and particularly 'wonderful life we share'.

Yes.....sad that there have been no replies for years.....thought isolatiom and loneliness were causing problems for people these days.

Where are people meeting up now that the Pandemic has eased up a bit lately??? It would be lovely to share life experiences with people. Come on!! Reply to the idea!!

Hi. I'm afraid I'm not looking to meet on a social basis as I don't have so much free time, but in case at some point you wish to further your Spanish studies, just wanted to comment that I teach Spanish and have done for 17 years so if you are ever interested in taking a one to one class please do get in touch. Meanwhile, I hope you are successful in your quest to find social events. There are quite a few clubs around but perhaps people are wary of meeting someone that they don't know in a café or bar or are still being cautios because of the virus situation which is very possible.

Why not check out Facebook groups like Costa Blanca South Chat. Plenty of people on there and if it's not the right group there are people who can advise where to look.

Personally I think you'd find Phoenix a much older group on the whole.

If you are looking to learn Spanish there is a very good teacher called James Bretherton who lives in Pilar Horadada. You can purchase his lessons online and they are very reasonably priced , (5 euros a lesson in groups of 10 ) or you can purchase the complete course. I have found his teaching methods excellent and filled with humour. He is an English born language teacher but has lived in Spain since he was 4 years old and so has gone through the Spanish education system . put in James Spanish School and you will find him.
