I contacted KVA and they said they didn't undertake that type of work but I have a company in Alicante working on a quote for me. I have had one quote at £26k which I thought was a bit pricey

I am basing the following on my experience in Sardinia, Italy which has a similar climate to Valencia.

To run the house and pool with photovoltaic electricity, I needed 16/18 panels (obtaining approx. 4.5kw) 12 batteries, Vectron controllers,  plus a 12kw diesel generator using the red cheaper fuel which would all come to €18,000 installed and running.

This way you have electric for everything in the house and the pool.

This is a rough estimate to give you an idea of what you would expect to pay for a good higher grade installation.

Thanks Janice

That is more what I was expecting . I don't want a cheap system but similarly I don't want to pay over the odds if I can avoid it

Our current neighbours, who recently moved here after 40 years in a large isolated finca, decided to have solar panels installed for exactly the same reason as you; having run their finca with them. They quickly decided that by the time the ancillary ‘bits’ were installed, sorry, don’t know...

..., but whatever was necessary to actually end up with usable hot water!, that it was financially no longer viable as the initial capital cost was far too much.

Maybe not financially viable in the immediate future... but you have to consider other things  (1) Very convenient to have your ''own'' supply when grid gets cut-off  (2)  a massive reduction in Iberdrola Bills during ALL the sunshine months, and a great portion of the other months also (generation is not dependent on heat from sun...just radiation in the form of sunlight)  and (3)  future selling potential increase.    We have a 12 panel installation and have reduced our bill from £90 per month to £37 on average........very happy about that.   With careful management of usage/generation  we are using an average now of 2.75kwh  per day (YES  per day)  and thats with full kitchen appliances - constant hot water and pool pump running 10 hours daily.   Contact me privately for more details as I do not want to advertise on the forum.  Stay safe...Bob

Good day,

If you are interested in a non-binding free solar offer, please use this link for more information. The link leads to the business page in the CostaBlanca forum. The following text is therefore advertising free.

Solar on the Costa Blanca - Since 1985 Solarmassel - English, German, Spanish

In general, a private solar system without battery costs between 2000-8000€

A solar system with a battery is about twice that amount.

A payback period depends on various factors, but the time is usually only 6-8 years.

If you have an electricity bill that is higher than € 50 a month, then a solar system is already profitable and should definitely be considered!

If you are interested or have any questions, please write to me privately or use the link above to find out more contact options.

With kind regards,

Johannes Schuppe, Solarmassel.
