Hello everyone, we have just found and joined this forum.

We are looking to buy a bungalow in the Torreta area in September, we have been doing our homework and wonder if anybody has recommendations re estate agents

Or any warnings re pitfalls in the buying process, we have just sold our holiday home in Turkey and decided to buy in Spain for a number of reasons.

We look forward to any replies, T.I.A.

Don't give the agent any money in terms of a deposit

Never use the Solicitor recommended by the agent

Most importantly buy quick. As it appears we are heading for a no deal Brexit.. £ parity with the € seems very likely

Sorry for the short reply before as I was taking a call.

So if we are interested in a property and wish to make an offer, what is the correct way to proceed?

Get a solicitor in place before you start looking

Find a property you like. Make the offer..by email

If accepted the agent will try it on with scare tactics over losing the property without the deposit.

Ignore this and tell the agent your solicitor said not to. Then pass the agent your Sols details and step back

Your solicitor with the seller's solicitor will formulate a deposit between them

The sale will then proceed

You will get lots. But here is mine as a starter for ten

P.F.M@Telefonica.net

Based in Torrevieja and his office staff are English.

Get a couple of contacts and see what price is best.

Highly recommend Abaco Advisers who have office in Torreviega who handled our property purchase earlier this year and our Spanish wills.  Will also be using them for future tax returns.
