Just to advise you that I would not recommend to anyone to buy in HNOS GARCIA, Ctra. Crevillente, Torrevieja.

I bought a fridge for rental apartment from them, as we received an unexpected reservation we could not have fridge delived but picked it up ourselves.  Fridge was loaded into our car by 2 members of staff, when we took it out of our car we discovered a very large dent on side.  It was fridge which was in shop on show.  I know we should have checked for any damage but we were in hurry as we need to have flat ready.  Reason for this is just to let people be aware of service in shop.  Staff members are not helpfull, and ignorant. They just want your money and thats it.

I did call shop to complain but all I got was hung up on, not once but twice.   I intend taking this further as a matter of principle.

Thanks for listening.

OMG, you have opened a can of worms here, there are users on this forum who take any criticism of the Spanish or Spanish companies as a personal attack on them, everything that happened will be your fault, and you are just a whinger.

The last 2 threads where users criticised a particular shop the users were subject to online abuse, in the end the threads were closed down, that's how bad it got.

Good luck

I hope you paid by credit card - not debit - if so you can make a claim for refund.

Is it not the case that ex shop display items are bought as seen, so as long as the fridge is not faulty then it is not the shops responsibility if the buyer fails to check for dents, scratches or other marks.

If this was an ‘ex-display’ item, was the price commensurate with this? Ie - Reduced/special offer? Usually ex-display items are sold ‘as seen’ for the obvious reason: being handled by members of the public day in day out is not conducive to perfect condition.

Very annoying, but as you didn’t examine it on purchase and took it away ‘as is’, there may not be much to be done. As long as it is functioning, the damage would seem to be purely cosmetic. As a person for whom I worked many years ago said ‘NEVER assume Anything’!!!!!!!!

Quite agree! We no longer buy anything beyond small low cost items  from Spanish shops! They can't be trusted to honour guarantees. I had to claim via the credit card and got a refund on faulty hearing aids.On another occasion we battled to get cash back for falsely advertised goods. We got the refund but only after an acrimoneous battle. We only use Amazon now because their guarantees and refund policies work!

Well I am sorry but I do have to disagree. This has not been my experience at all. I bought an MP3 player from Tien 21 which could not be made to function. This was exchanged with absolutely no quibble. We also bought all our kitchen appliances from one local firm; one of them developed a fault approximately 20 months into service. The central service agents for the manufacturers were notified, made appointment, came , inspected and immediately authorised the complete replacement with a brand new product; this replacement item unfortunately had a electrical manufacturing defect which could not be seen. When it failed, they returned, checked the item,  dismantled it on site and completed a thoroughly professional repair.

We also had a problem with the installation of our kitchen worktops and sinks, due to an assumption on my part and a different assumption upon that of the supplier/installer. When our disappointment was made clear to the owner of the company, he immediately had the items removed, remade/fitted and reinstalled at his own expense. We offered to pay 50% of the cost of this exercise as the misunderstanding was mutual, and we did not feel it fair to expect a small business to carry all the cost of that which we would have had to pay had the original misunderstanding not occurred; this was accepted, we all remained on friendly terms and a fair solution was achieved.

Yes, there may be problems, but that is true anywhere. Any serious misbehaviour on the part of a supplier can always be reported via the consumer protection system, the name of which escapes me, but the threat of which usually works wonders I understand. We have never needed to use it.

Yes, I agree - not every one is bad in the way I describe though we have had three very bad experiences. It has been enough to make us avoid Spanish businesses for high cost items. We have Bosch machines but bought direct from Bosch on line. I am pleased that not everyone has our experiences but the stress and agravation has driven us to us the tried and tested routes. ¡Una vez mordido dos veces tímido!
