Hello all, can anyone explain why people would want to erect a huge flagpole and huge flag of their nationality, off their terrace and in their gardens. Apart from it giving them an indication of which way the wind is blowing??. I think they are unsightly and make a lot of noise at night particularly when it’s very windy.Thank you

Yes maybe, but on holiday homes seems a bit much. Particularly in gated communities. I agree the Americans are very patriotic.

I do see what you're saying because we have so many Spanish flags on people's villas here. I have a Spanish flag still flying outside my place. Just haven't got round to changing it.

I think people are just proud of their country and if it makes them happy. I'm happy.

A sign of disrepect to Spain and the Spanish people.

What is a sign of disrespect to Spain and the Spanish people?

Have I missed something?

Flying a foreign flag in someone else's country. Wonder what you would say if your Muslim neighbours put up an Iranian or Turkish flag in their front garden back home in the UK.

What are you talking about...

I said if anyone wants to fly their flag and it makes them happy. I'm happy.

Muslim neighbours. Why shouldn't Muslims be able to fly their flag too.

I don't see how we've gone from flags to Muslims!

I quite like seeing different flags in our neighbourhood - it's a signs of differing nations living side by side. I don't see it as disrespectful to Spain or its people.
