From El Pais today

Madrid has seen a particularly large spike in infections, especially among young people, reports Isabel Valdés. Contagion among people between 10 and 19 years of age increased sevenfold in the last 15 days, rising from 16 to 117.

As the holiday season for Madrid starts this weekend will there be a large influx of Madrillenos into their holiday homes on the Costa Blanca? Are you worried?

To add an advisory note to the ongoing saga which effects us all in these days. Many people are pinning a lot of hope on a vaccine - as if it will cure this Covid19 virus. There will never be a “cure” for Covid19.
What's a "cure" by definition?

You get a disease,  you apply the cure and the disease goes away. Right?

For starters,  a vaccine is a prophylactic treatment. It prevents a healthy person getting the disease. So a vaccine can never "cure".

Secondly the pathogen is a virus.  Not a bacterium against which an antibiotic could be effective. So what kind of cure do the people expect or imagine?

In the case of a virus,  to effectively kill the pathogen,  you need to kill the host.

Bottom line is that there are no cures. Only prophylactic therapy like vaccinations.
