From El Pais today

Madrid has seen a particularly large spike in infections, especially among young people, reports Isabel Valdés. Contagion among people between 10 and 19 years of age increased sevenfold in the last 15 days, rising from 16 to 117.

As the holiday season for Madrid starts this weekend will there be a large influx of Madrillenos into their holiday homes on the Costa Blanca? Are you worried?

I am concerned that no one has this under control and believe that the message has clearly not got through to the youth (and the thick and ignorant). I will continue to take all necessary precautions to minimise the chances of catching this virus and hope that they start coming down hard on the fools who breach the hygiene measures as well as start getting the message through as to how this will effect everyone and not just the old or vulnerable.

I also can only wish that all countries and leaders start working together to combat this global threat. For us all this winter could see us experience the worst of this virus.

Stay safe and well everyone and try and not worry by following careful  hygiene measures with safe distancing (not social distancing)

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

A comprehensive reply , however are other members concerned that with the rise of cases in the Madrid area as well as Catalunya that even with the strength of control, that those from these regions may be carrying the virus into the CB area.and may not care to follow rules once they have gained their perceived "freedom" to go on holiday?

On a slightly different point, I was speaking to a friend in Spain a few minutes ago and she was totally appalled at two bars in La Fuente CC. No hand sanitizer on arrival, no masks worn by staff, no sanitising of seats and table s once vacated, and even one OWNER walking straight into the kitchen after embracing and kissing known clients. Then proceeding to shake the hand of the chef! Maybe the controls are only in place when the GC or Local are around? Both British bars by the way.

In answer to you ultimate sentence. .. Worried. No. Expected & predicted. Many people are "explaining?" various causes:

Tourists, youth, Catalonia, Madrid, etc etc....All we do & see the complacency of groups among us, (& I am at the moment seated amongst 65 people with masks dangling akimbo). They will leave later ( placing the masks on), their best opportunity for C-19 to enter their body, but they feel "safe". Yes. The virus will continue. My opinion only. V

Roy1950. Can you name these two bars please, because we go to la Fuente cc and really need to know which places to avoid. TIA

The following was released by the Almoradi town hall yesterday:

ATTENTION: We inform that the only official source of positive confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Almoradí is Consellería, in the following link: https://icvgva.maps.arcgis.com/apps/opsdashboard/index.html?fbclid=IwAR3oRhZyF3FS_fJM85EEppZhwiHlaKJEYZJS8yfwBaXuqFnCz8KE877FA4Q#/dc1b142a3fe74ee88a3199c165c03093

(Currently, in the last 14 days PCR confirmed cases are 5, although they could vary in future updates). Health is currently monitoring cases and conducting PCR tests to try to reduce or rule out new infections.

Please, it is very important not to spread news or data without contrasting, that in most cases are hoaxes and that affect and harm people or businesses. At this time, we ask that safety and hygiene measures be extreme, such as: the use of the mask, social distance and hand washing. If we fulfill, each with our responsibility, we will avoid more infections. And this has been released by the town hall today:

Tomorrow the capacity of Weekly Market positions will be reduced to 50 % and access will be delimited. Please, it is very important to comply with security measures: social distancing and use of mandatory mask.

We were at La Fuente CC between 14th - 23rd July. We went to Interim amd  La Piazza restaurants, both very well controlled and social distancing observed at all times whilst we were there. We walked through the centre and did not notice anywhere that made us think it looked bad but we did not go to any bars as that;s not our thing so could not comment on them.

Rgds,

Aitch.

OK so at the risk of being hauled before court here are the two bars mentioned by our friend. ENCOUNTERS and ROUTE ONE.

She said that Encounters were appalling in their cleaning (if it could be called that ) her words not mine and Route One, when a member of staff told the owner and our friend

had a word with him, all he did was shrug his shoulders and walked away.. If those bars wish to file any kind of legal actions then witnesses can and WILL be brought to corroborate these statements.

Neither of these bars are in La Fuente! We go to a number of bars in La Fuente and all are vigorously enforcing the rules.

Maybe you are right I do not know these bars. I am only quoting what was told me by a permanent resident in the area. If the information is not correct then I can only say sorry. The old adage of don't shoot the messenger might apply OK? So could they be in the new CC opened just past the Iceland store that was Lidl? Maybe our friend classes that as La Fuente also? If these bars are not in CC La Fuente, does anyone know where they might be found?

Our friend is a highly intelligent and fastidious observer of matters and would not criticise these bars without seriously due          justification.and reason.
