You are quite right and now that I know that we can come and go the way we always have, I’m both happy and relieved.

A couple of years ago our Spanish neighbour has his house taken by his bank. They extended and did everything to make what was a beautiful house into an eye sore. Now we have a Ukrainian couple living there who have totally revamped the whole place. Retiled, painted, roof tiles and everything else. They painted their exterior beautifully and have now painted our external walls and a large wall attached to their house too. Photos sent through on Friday. Can you credit it? Refused payment so will need to think of something the buy them to show our appreciation. So, you can imagine how much we’d like to see the end result ourselves!

Gibraltar is now in Schengen - a consequence of the late December Brexit deal.

So that trap door is gone.

Not anymore, but Andorra suffices, or a nice day trip across the strait of Gibraltar to Morocco is a grand day out.

It’s only now really sinking in. I’ve already booked several flights to see me through the year but suddenly I have begun counting and see that if I visit from Easter, I can stay periodically until June. Then I must not return until October and permitted to stay anytime up to the end of Decem...

...ber. The winter months when I enjoy being inSpain will not be permitted and I must wait until April to return.

Now, here’s the thing. I live in NI and with an Irish passport may visit anytime I fancy as long as I don’t stay any longer than  180days in any year , is this correct?  Having 2 passports could allow me to visit for360 days!  Can’t be true but surly a possibility.   I read that the Valencian government would like to change the 90 day rule and allow tourists to come and go as previously so hope they implement this sooner rather than later.

Irish passport, stay as long as you want,uk passport ,stamped on entry, leave after 3 months of daye stamped.

No problem Irish Passport!

Hi GrannyRose

As you have an Irish Passport you still are entitled to come and go as you please as before with EU status. BUT make sure that your passport is not stamped when entering Spain.

I have dual nationality the UK passport though with me stays in the pocket and not used. Have to say since using the Irish passport in Europe (2 years) I have enjoyed a better reception than I ever did with UK passport

Nice to hear I got my Irish Passport late last year not used yet.

As I understand it I now have as I did before Brexit, Freedom of movement, I can spent as long as I like in an EU country, but have to obey each countries rules.

France register if I am going to stay over 90 days (not sure about tax).

Spain register if I am going to stay over 90 days, become tax resident after 182 days in a Tax (calendar) year.

Can go via France to Spain and Portugal, (and Gib) provided I don't break these rules I am free to travel as I like, not as stated above subject to 90 in 180, that is third country citizens, IE UK passport holders, unless married to an EU citizen then right of the family under EU law come in and you have similar rights to your Spouse.

How can you be none the wiser after reading DaveBevs post above?

It's crystal clear.

Couldn't agree more . Dave has made that very clear.
