Yes! I just saw it on the news,  the fans did cardboard cut outs of themselves and the club placed them in the seats,  better than beach towels i suppose !

Hi all,

Some promising words from Pedro Sánchez that Spain will welcome tourists from July, Quote “ Spain needs tourists and tourists need safety.

Looking forward to coming to our holiday home soon  fingers crossed.

Stay safe

Good news, for tourists and indeed the Spanish economy. Makes complete sense, Spain cannot do without ‘the tourist contribution’ to their economy. Looking forward to visiting and spending the winter in Spain once again.

The opening of the borders is excellent news, for those of us wanting to get in. Perhaps less so for those there, unless relient on tourism of course.

A while ago I was predicting the borders would remain closed until at least the end of the year, so I'm very pleased to be utterly wrong. Again :-)

You weren't the first by all means!

The borders were never going to stay closed for one minute more than necessary, economic reasons dictate that. Hopefully some level of normality can prevail once more.

It’s all well & good for Spain opening their borders to welcome tourists (myself included 👍) but actually getting themthere will be an exercise that needs to be sorted out...

How are aircraft going to be able to ensure safe distancing measures of 2m, queues at baggage drop-off/security and boarding gates on flights out, similar when landing in Spain, and then the added 2 week quarantine on returning home? There will be a lot of people holding back on going out until safety is ensured - but how this can be done is the million dollar question?

A two week family holiday will mean people needing to take 4 weeks off work to meet the quarantine requirements upon return - I can’t see many employers letting their staff take a 4 week holiday?

Add the fact that flight costs will go through the roof, there’s a lot of conditions that will deter people from visiting - hopefully the tourist industry can survive & get through this and be ready for normality next year - fingers crossed ☀️🍺👍

Flights on sale up untill autumn NEXT  year, same if not cheaper than this year,  so hardly going through the roof,  also quarantine,  they are reviewing it every 3 weeks,  so nothing is guaranteed about having 4 weeks off for a two week holiday

How are aircraft going to be able to ensure safe distancing measures of 2m,

They can't. They might pretend they can, but it's pretty obvious they can't.

It's down to the individual. If you feel you can keep yourself and others safe and are comfortable with the risks and can live with the day to day restrictions that are in place in Spain, travel. If not, don't.

Personally, we (wife and me) have decided we can keep ourselves safe during travel and can quarantine for two weeks after returning if needed. We also don't need to be able to go out to bars etc. to enjoy our Spain trips as we always rent villas, not stay in hotels. So we'll be getting back out as soon as we reasonably can.

Having read earlier today that 9% of the British GDP is from incoming tourism, I suspect the government will do a u turn on the quarantine as soon as they think they can do so without losing face. I find it amusing that the quarantine will not be enforced before another fortnight has passed anyway. It’s hardly surprising we are seen to be a laughing stock.
