Salt lakes
Hi
I am new to Torrevieja and wondered if there are any designated areas of the lakes that are open to the public to bath etc.

Hello Jerry,
I saw some people swimming in the pink lake at this point (See map) If you go to the corner of Calle Sol / Corner of the park / field, there you see a sign. If you walk on the kind of a path, that brings you lake

Hi,
Having lived between the two salt lakes for many years thought you might like to know that it's not permitted to bathe in the lakes and there are signs to state this. The reason is that it messes up the eco system and birdlife which have been there for years, also alot of people leave rubbish which can end up killing the wildlife if eaten. Sorry to put a damper on it but as they are so wonderful and volunteers and the Natural reserve are trying to keep it that way so we can enjoy them for many years to come. There are many paths and lookout points around the La Mata lake to enjoy but if you really want to bathe in salt water the nearest are at Mar Memory.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
Glad I could help. If you Google Mar Menor (sorry but the predictive text jumped in and I didn't check) it's by San Pedro on the N332 about 20 mins drive from central Torrevieja, bit longer in the summer.
Friends go there and say it's lovely in the mud baths albeit a bit smelly!lol!
Have fun.
