Strange only my self does not agree with the schools. The virus when schools opened was at around 4700 cases, Now at 6700 cases so that is an increase of 2000 cases in just a few days. Wait till next week when it is back up to 10.000 then lets see what you all think . It is not rocket science.

Well let's hope you're wrong. Do you have children/ grandchildren? Surely you do not begrudge them an education

The schools could have waited just a little bit longer in my opinion . Since schools have opened Monday the case rate was 4712 ( 8th March ) Today 3 days later it is 6753 so that is an increase of 2041. Think about it , we are going in the wrong direction yet again. There are now many families having to self isolate due to this school re opening. The virus will set in again and win.

If William Hills the bookies was open I would put a big bet on the daily virus rate next week will be over 10.000 a day due to schools. Nearby here we have had class rooms closed due the children spreading the virus. Last year there were 1 in 5 children carrying the virus and taking it home to share with their families

Hi Steve,

it is too early to read much into todays rise in infections, looking at daily fluctuations is not really useful, it needs a longer timeframe to detect a trend.

One point that was made today is that testing this week is double what it was last week, 1.5 milion yesterday versus 800,000 last Wednesday, with a lot of additional testing being focused on schools. It could simply be that the increased testing is picking up more cases. I doubt that the kids have been back long enough yet to catch and show up any new infections. By Easter the be a more reasonable time frame to look at trends.

I have not spoken to many people with kids who are unhappy that they are back at school, though I am sure there are some like yourself who would rather wait longer.

Aitch.
