I have had a quote back from Desokupa.com.   They charge 4,500 euros, plus IVA to deal with these situations.   Needless to say, I am still reeling.

I would pay it, just to see them out of your home & knowing in the end you got the better of them. I really feel for you for all that you've been through & totally understand your decision to sell. We are trying to get out to Spain to buy a property but it has crossed our minds this enormous problem with squatters & swayed us more towards an apartment than a house, just for added security. God help the squatters if they ever move in to my property, just wouldn't stand for it, they'd be out quicker than they moved in. Best of luck for your future & I hope it all sorted as soon as possible.

Thank you.   If you are going to buy a property in Spain, seriously consider an apartment with a 'portero / concierge'   and/or install a very good security alarm, linked to the main office, so there's a swift response to any break-in.   Buying an apartment does not protect you from the squatters by any means.   The internet is littered with accounts of apartments being occupied illegally.   Best of luck. xx

Thankyou for that good advise. I hope all works out for you soon too

To be honest, even if I could travel to Spain I am no longer permitted to enter my own property.   The squatter has rights and is now protected by law.  I could be prosecuted for 'intimidation' if I try to access my own house.   I have spoken to lawyers, but they are real...

...ly unhelpful as the Courts are so slow and the squatters know how to manipulate the law in their favour.   It is so unfair and frustrating and depressing.  No-one has any positive suggestions.   I can see no way forward at the moment.

Hi Bibba , Not sure if you will get this. I am in the same boat as you regarding what to do. As I have just found out the squatters are in. What stage are you at now. I have contacted solicitors in uk and they don’t come back to me . Would be interested in your progress. Regards Benson

You could end up paying that money (up front) and the courts still backing the squatters especially if they have young children or have paid a bill related to that address. It's a minefield and I certainly would not trust anyone, including a solicitor who says they can get them evicted. All involved are only after your cash especially if you are stuck in the UK.
