The damage is already done in weeks they have broken both the gate lock and the door lock and are sleeping in beds with beautiful linen on them the expense the residents have to go to return their property to normality is awful and as the electricity meters are in a cupboard at the end of the row they just turn it back on by breaking into the cupboard it’s all weighted in the squatters favour they just move onto the next empty property

Marie,That's disgusting, If I was local to you I would make sure that Electricity didn't get turned back on. Hopefully someone nearby can help on that one.
Do you have any direct contact with the owners ?

Yes but they are in Germany and they haven’t been out to the property as they have a family member nearing the end of life.

Thought I would give you all a heads up on the outcome of the squatters. The family arrived from Germany and stayed at ours overnight as it was necessary to be close to their property to meet up with the Guardia they denounced the squatters but couldn’t do this until they were in the country and the Guardia met them outside their property where they produced their documents proving ownership the Guardia then went to the door and spoke with the guy who said he paid money in good faith to stay there but didn’t know who the guy was. The Guardia said he was there illegally and he was moved out without fuss in a matter of minutes. Then the inspection started they had removed copper pipe from solar panels so no hot water in the house and a further copper pipe to the pool so no pump on and pool full of algae expensive job lots of other issues a broken window and new lock luckily the old one was in the property with the keys.
It’s taken the best part of a week to get it back how it was with 6 adults working on it but all is well now and they are enjoying a well earned test
Marie, Thank you for the update on this.
It was really fortunate they had good caring neighbours to help with the problem.
Did the Police give any information as to whether the Squatters would face any legal action?
LeckyLes.

It's good to hear good outcome if that was the uk it would be 6 months as the seem to have more rights than the owner

The Spanish legal system moves slowly. Took us years to remove some from our urbanisation. In the end the bank turned up with the heavys and pursuaded them to leave. Possession is 9/10ths of the law! Get a few ' handy' lads together and ask them to leave!!

I take it the house is nit owned by the original poster, in which case I would say the owner of the property needs to be made aware to pursue the matter.
