Hi Torreviejan's, I'm looking at areas preferably urbanisations in and around Torrevieja and stumbled upon a few properties in El Chaparral, La Siesta, the Torretas, La Marina etc.  Im reading older posts about squatters, gypsies scourging through bins in white vans, anti-social behaviour, rubbish piling up, power cuts, streets and houses flooded in El Chaparral and other areas, is it still the same or has it improved?

Hello

If you narrow down your questions to one particular Urbanisation and ask direct questions relating to now ---2023,

you are more likely to get replies from current owners in that area.

Trying to cover 4 Urbanisations with 6/7 different issues, albeit old posts, gets too confusing. wherever you see properties you are interested in, come for a visit and have a look around yourself to get a general feel for how things are now.

Cheers

I  can  only  reply  with  my  experience  of life in Altos de Limonar  which  is adjacent  to El Chaparral.  I  have  not  heard of any  flooding  in this Complex  and  I  have  neighbours  who  purchase  their Property  from  New.  No  anti  social  behaviour  that I  have  seen  or heard of. Yes Gypsies  come and  take  any  scrap or anything  of  value  left  at  Rubbish   🗑  bins  but  this happens  all over the Orihuela Costa 🇨🇷.   No  squatters  in  this complex  or neighbouring  complex.  I  am very Happy  with  my  Apartment  and Complex  and it is kept in  prestigious   conditions   clean and  tidy.

It  worth  a  look  if you  are  purchasing

Thanks, sounds great where you are, I suppose buying on a complex is the safest and secure

Very quiet and resedential, no flooding that I'm aware of in El Chapparal. Squatters are not a problem, but they are around every area, every so often , so you need to be vigilant. Poverty is rife in Spain, so has to be expected as there's no Social Security system per se.

Otherwise, life is good in most of the Urbz in that neck of Torrevieja, plenty bars, restaurants, and on a good bus route to town.

the one thing I would worry about is just how bad the local hospital is...

I  can  only  say  good 👍   things  about  Torrevieja Hospital  with  a  brief  visit  as an in Patient  with  no  knowledge  of Spanish  language. Treat  with  respect  and   medical issues  resolved.  I  am very  Happy  with  my  experience.
