Hi 8102Miko - you have stated that - “I’d be interested to know if there’s a choice of vaccines available given that AZ has only 60/70 % efficacy rate” - can I ask where you found this statistic??

There are many different studies Steve with slightly different percentages but here are a couple. Don’t know if a link will show here. Thishttps://healthydebate.ca/2021/03/topic/comparing-vaccines/ Alsohttps://healthydebate.ca/2021/03/topic/comparing-vaccines/
I had been following the figures because the age groups AZ being suggested it worked for kept changing. This was before the risks involved, rare as they are were made known.
In my early 60’s I was hoping for the Pfizer one as both my wife & daughter working in healthcare had that vaccine back in January and all’s well since.
Not nowadays a fan of vaccines since enduring a very bad few months after receiving the swine flu jab years ago I hoped if I get a Covid vaccine it’d be the most effective one. AZ doesn’t seem to be that one.
Still in Europe’s longest lockup here in Ireland we (in the 60-69) bracket are deemed most suitable for the AZ and our government announced if we have any fears & refuse it we then go to the very back of the queue. At the rate of vaccine rollout here it could well be 2022 before a call could come.
There’s been heated debate here about that but then our government have a lot of AstraZenica to use up.
I’d heard rightly or wrongly that in the UK you are given the option on which vaccine to take and wondered if Spain did likewise.

I think you will find that the AZ provides 70% after the first dose and 90 %after the second. Most of the vaccines provide the same protection. Maybe The Johnson and Johnson prices higher as it is only one dose but sadly has been withdrawn for the moment. My advice, take what they offer you, you need to be vaccinated.

Well I received by txt message last night for my AZ vaccine appointment on Monday 19th April @ 13.22 pm in Torrevieja. I had only registered last Tuesday, after weeks of trying, so my persistence did pay off, as I nearly gave up. Have a nice day everyone and stay safe and healthy. Edit = 61 years...

I had phone call today and my appointment is this Friday for the Pfizer vaccine at Cabo Roig. I am a bit scared about side effects though. I am 73.

Morning, how old are you Peter just so we can keep an idea on age groups being called.
Im 69 and the age that Spain forgot haha. My partner 63 and my neighbours 78 have had theirs but because Spain kept changing the age group for Astra Zenica, 65 - 69 still haven't had the vaccine. I went to my health centre in Cabo Roig yesterday and they said yes I'm on the list and will be contacted when it is my turn so just have to sit tight and wait.

Yes Tricia, I am also 69 and I believe the 65 to 69s are the next to be vaccinated in ascending order. I have had to cancel my appointment in Ireland . I received a text on Sunday to present for my first AZ vaccine on Wednesday morning 21st. Clearly this was not enough time to organise flight and quarantine on arrival etc. As I am registered here I am hoping the text will come within the next few weeks. Things are moving at least , delays are unavoidable given the supply issues.

Hi did you go to the building behind Carrafour and if so did they give you an appointment for your 2nd vaccine? Most of my friends who have had their 1st vaccine were given a slip of paper with the date for their 2nd vaccine. my husband went for his 1st vaccine in Torry. It he said they didn’t give him an appointment for his 2nd vaccine. Just wondering is he missed anything as he is a little deaf.
